"Thoreauly Lost" a hit at the 2008 Lake Placid Film Festival

Christy Lee Hughes and Kevin Craig West were selected to play husband and wife in "Thoreauly Lost"  a short comedy produced for the Lake Placid 24 hour student film competition.

For this challenging assignment, student filmmakers had just 24 hours to conceptualize, write, script, shoot, edit and show a film that is no longer than 10 minutes.

The films were judged by writer/director Courtney Hunt, actress Melissa Leo and co-producer Chip Hourihan, of “Frozen River,” a film featured at the Forum.  The judges selected "Somebody's Fool" by Emerson College as the winner of the contest.
But just like in Hollywood, critical acclaim doesn’t ensure success at the box office. The Audience Choice Award went to the team from Ithaca College for its comedy, “Thoreauly Lost" starring Christy Lee Hughes and Kevin Craig West.  Ithaca Filmmakers included Greg Dunbar, Casey Dwyer, Andrew Kalicki, Ayshea Khan and Mike Sutter. “It’s a great honor definitely, both for us and the school,” said Ithaca College junior Greg Dunbar. “The audience has so many different tastes; it’s better than three jury members. It might not be as prestigious, but we are getting feedback that we made something that people will like.
