Bio
Christy Lee Hughes is an award winning actress, dancer and film producer. She is a member in excellent standing with Screen Actors Guild, American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, and Actors Equity Association. She graduated with an AAS in Paralegal Studies and a BA in Communications from the University at Albany. She has been chosen to work with some of Hollywood's most talented Directors including Steven Spielberg, Bill Condon, Arthur Ginsberg and Joe Pytka. Christy studied comedy and improvisation with Upright Citizens Brigade in Manhattan and with Lesly Kahn in Hollywood. She has an undying passion for the arts and has continuously been requested to coach fellow aspiring actors. Christy serves as Secretary on the Board of Directors for the non-profit organization The Good Virus and is a member of the SAG Film Society. Some of her latest work includes a principal role in the National IBM commercial What Makes YOU Special as well as playing a supporting role opposite Thora Birch in the feature film, Winter of Frozen Dreams. Christy has a strong work ethic and always puts 110% into everything she does. In 2007 Christy earned and accepted the Critic's Choice Award for Best Actress for the role of Anna in Amerikan Partizan at the Edwood Film Festival, New York. Christy had a lead role in Thoreauly Lost which was chosen for the Audience Choice Award at The Lake Placid Film Festival in 2008. She went on to play the supporting role of Janice opposite the Academy Award nominated actress Melissa Leo (Frozen River) in the film, Predisposed written by Phil Dorling and Academy Award nominated writer, Ron Nyswaner. In 2009, Predisposed was accepted to the prestigious Sundance Film Festival.
In 2010, Christy relocated to Hollywood to further her career. In the short period of time since her arrival in Hollywood, and with an amazing talent for discerning the right opportunities , she has found success as the Associate Producer in The Pony Man, an original drama short, written by John Staley and directed by Chane’t Johnson. Her acting skills were stretched even to a deeper level for the role of a distressed mother in The Boy Who Became King, an emotional drama short written by Ramin Nematollahi and directed by Trudy Sargent. Together with Trudy Sargent, she is now developing a feature length drama aiming to shoot early 2011. Christy’s talent and impeccable comedic timing was recognized as within an hour of auditioning, she was immediately invited to study and perform at The Groundlings. She has just graduated Intermediate level and advanced to the Writer’s Lab where along with her team, they will develop a series of comedy sketches.
